Why is this product so special?

ProJoba Slim™ is an all natural, stimulant-free weight management system that contains a proprietary blend of Jojoba extract, Guggul and Triphala. ProJoba Slim™ is the first weight management supplement to feature Jojoba extract. The Jojoba plant has long been used as a dietary food source and the oil from the seeds as an additive to quality skin care products.

The Jojoba story:

Jojoba is is a shrub that grows in desert regions of the southwestern U.S. and Mexico. It is also cultivated in Israel, Australia, South America and the former Soviet Union. Indians used the plant for various reasons long before Columbus set foot in America. The pressed seeds produce an oil that is used extensively in the cosmetic business, especially in products for the hair and skin. The Jojoba plant also known as Simmondsia Chinensis has been used for thousands of years by Native Americans. It was used as food source, while its oil was used for traditional cosmetics and medicine.

Although Conquistador, Hernan Cortez, is credited with giving Jojoba its common name, the plant is also called Desert Whale. This is because the oil is almost structurally identical to sperm whale oil.

When is an oil is not an oil?

Jojoba oil is not actually an oil but rather an ester. The structural differences between an oil and an ester are very small but important.

Jojoba ester is a natural mimic of the oil (seburn) that our skin secretes as a lubricant. It is an important additive to many quality skin and hair care products today.

Cattle feed, cattle weight loss:

To make Jojoba oil (ester), Jojoba seeds are pressed to extract the oil, leaving the Jojoba skins.

At first, the oil was sold for commercial use, and the residue, the high protein rich Jojoba skin was simply discarded. It was later decided to turn these nutrient rich skins into animal feed.

A very unexpected thing happened, when cattle began eating the Jojoba feed, instead of increasing in weight, the cattle actually began to lose weight.

What was responsible for the unexpected weight loss?

To find the answer, two respected research companies Avoca and ChromaDex, Inc. teamed together to study the properties of the Jojoba seed and identify the components responsible for the cattle’s weight loss.

They discovered that a component within the Jojoba seed, called Simmondsin, was a powerful, natural appetite suppressant in every mammal they investigated.

Simmondsin:
Simmondsin is a hunger satiation ingredient in the Jojoba seed. Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) is a shrub indigenous to the Sonoran desert of Arizona, California, and Mexico. The seeds contain liquid wax esters used as a high-temperature lubricant and in cosmetics. Jojoba oil is a liquid wax, as opposed to other vegetable oils, which are triglycerides. The oil is a complex solution of long chain, unbranched esters ranging from thirty-four to forty-eight carbon atoms. The esters are diunsaturated and very resistant to oxidation. The oil has a dry luxurious feel, and will provide formulations with additional cushion. Jojoba oil has been successfully formulated into treatment, hair care, color cosmetic products and as a weight loss product.
Ayurvedic herbs:
Ayurvedic herbs in ProJoba Slim™ include Guggul and Triphala. Ayurvedic comes from Ayurveda, a wholistic system of medicine from India that uses a constitutional model. Guggul:
Guggul has been reported by researchers to help lower cholesterol, while slightly warming the human's body core temperature to naturally metabolize excess fat. Guggul (Commiphora mukul) is an Indian Ayurvedic herb known to adjust bad blood cholesterol. Guggul extract is a standardized powder extract of the gum of the Commiphora mukul tree containing a mixture of Z and E guggulsterones. The Guggul tree secretes aromatic oleoresins which are collected when they dry after exuding from cuts in the bark.

Guggul lowers "bad" and raises "good" cholesterol, lowers high cholesterol and triglycerides, inhibits platelet aggregation, and may increase thermogenesis through stimulation of the thyroid, potentially resulting in weight loss. In Ayurvedic medicine, it is used to remove "Ama", or deposits of waste or toxic material in the body, including mucus and mineral deposits in the joints, thus reducing a possible cause of sluggishness, inflamed joints, and many other conditions.

A direct anti-inflammatory effect has been observed for guggulsterones. Guggul is safe for human and animal use.
Triphala:
Triphala has been reported by researchers to help support the lowering of high blood pressure sometimes associated with weight gain.
